If you’re looking for an engaging activity to share with a friend on a rainy day, definitely check out the Metropolitan Museum of Art. You can catch up and stay dry, roaming the halls and admiring the Impressionist masterpieces on display. Make sure to pack your camera. Unlike a lot of other art museums, at the Met you’re allowed to take pictures of the art (as long as you don’t use the flash). After you’ve explored to your heart’s content and you’re looking for a scenic place to sit and talk, head over to the cafe at The Cloisters, where there’s a covered seating area that surrounds a lush garden. The Met is enormous and it’s impossible to see it all in a few hours, so wear your walking shoes if you want to get the most out of your day.
