Late-night food can be a risky proposition, so go with something tried and true the next time you’re wandering the East Village after a night out with friends. Crif Dogs is the after-hours eatery of choice on St. Mark’s Place. Nothing is quite as satisfying as a hot dog at 3am, so there’s no way you won’t leave a happy customer. The hot dogs here come in every imaginable variety: Wrapped in bacon, smothered in cream cheese, deep fried, and topped with everything you’re craving after a night of merriment. Celebrate the oncoming dawn with a Good Morning dog that’s wrapped in bacon and topped with cheese and a fried egg. Snag a bite of your friend’s Chihuahua dog when they’re not looking. Avocado and sour cream on a frankfurter is a hard combo to beat, after all. Get back in their good graces by passing around an order of tater tots. Whatever you decide to eat, you’ll all walk out with the biggest grins of satisfaction. Oh, and if you noticed an inordinate number of people mysteriously entering a phone booth by the wall, they’re just patrons of PDT, the stylish speakeasy next door. Don’t get any ideas. Tonight’s already in the books, but tomorrow’s wide open for a new experience.
