There are casual days at the beach, where cutoff jeans and an Igloo ice chest will do just fine, and then there are the days you visit Nikki Beach. This world famous “dayclub” is the place to be when you’re looking to do Miami Beach in style, where the rich, beautiful, and generally fabulous dance, air-kiss, and run their pedicured toes through the sand. Walk in with your crew and pull your sunglasses down to eye the VIP party filled with revelers showing off their tans. A smiling host who probably moonlights as a model will show you to your cabana. It’ll be your home-away-from-home today as you party with a who’s who of jet-setters and international bon vivants, enjoying the sea and sky on another perfect Miami Beach day.
Start by kicking back on your lounge bed and let yourselves be spoiled by the club’s VIP bottle service–a bottle of Moët sounds about right for this fancy occasion. You won’t stay down for long, though. Once the deejay starts mixing electronic music, the bumping bass is more than enough to draw you from your bed and get your hips a-swiveling while your feet kick around golden sand. When all that dancing has worked up an appetite in you as big as the nearby Atlantic, make a plan with your buddies to share a few plates of coconut-crusted firecracker shrimp and a “sexy salad” of avocado, crab, and lobster, followed by a slice or two of Key lime pie. Don’t worry–you’ll burn off the calories during the next song.
While you munch, make a game of inventing back-stories for your fellow guests. That older gentleman in the pink shirt? He’s a wealthy Swiss banker whose yacht is being serviced in the marina. The stylish woman in white wearing oversized sunglasses? She owns one of the biggest fashion houses in Paris. And those young ladies in the tiny bikinis? Clearly a group of Victoria’s Secret models. (Actually, there’s a good chance they are.)
With all the fun, you easily lose track of time and are shocked when the sky is suddenly tinged a vibrant shade of pink and orange. Your cheeks are a bit pink too–even though you applied plenty of sunscreen–and you’re ready for a nap. You could try to rally and extend your party into the night, but you think you’ll pack it in, content with your memories of the ultimate day at the beach. There’s always tomorrow.
