You’re thankful for lots of things in life, among them the opportunity to stuff your face the night before Thanksgiving at the Miami Beach Food Truck and Music Fest, which runs from 5pm to 10pm on Wednesday at the North Shore Park Band Shell. There, you’ll find some of the city’s best (and most legal) food trucks serving their finest to the huddled masses. Restaurants such as Lou’s Beer Garden will hawk their fare amidst a resplendent (we hope–check the weather!) beachy backdrop, with music and a motley mix of Miami locals and visitors basking in such. The event is free and, if you happen to be saving yourself for Thursday’s feast, it takes place the fourth Wednesday of every month.
Let it … snow?
Following your two-day face stuffing and alleged tryptophanic coma, emerge from your comfy clothes and just let it go at the Dolphin Mall’s winter wonderland, featuring bona fide snow flurries–the kind bikini-clad Buffaloans laugh in hysterics at, on the Ramblas Plaza every night at 7pm with yet another blustery snowfall at 9pm every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Kids get free wands to conjure the accumulation beginning 30 minutes prior to snowfall, which takes place daily from November 26 until January 4. We think those wands may also be conjuring a potential windfall for the mall this holiday season.
Posh Poolside Pop-Up
Speaking of those bikini-clad Buffaloans, go from the snow to the pool when menswear line Parke & Ronen pops up poolside at 2pm, November 28 and 11am on the 29th and 30th at the Shelborne Wyndham Grand South Beach, offering the latest in fleece Speedos–just kidding. For the name droppers, that would be designers Parke Lutter and Ronen Jehezkhel, who are offering the latest in sportswear and swimwear, which can be conveniently used because the newly renovated hotel is actually opening its pool to the public for the three days they are, er, parked there. The event is free, the clothing, however, is far from it. For more info on the line or to get an idea of how much you may need, go to their website at parkeandronen.com.
Fix Up, Look Sharp
And finally, if you happen to see a sharp white something or other, pick it up and sport it Saturday night at the splashy, flashy, legendary White Party. Celebrating 30 years as the world’s largest and oldest HIV/AIDS fundraiser at the Perez Art Museum, here you can be thankful for many things–among them, an excuse to wear white long after Labor Day. Kicking off at 7pm, The White Party is the White Party despite some recent attempts to prove otherwise, and will feature open bar from 7pm to 9pm, hors d’oeuvres–be careful, you’re wearing white–mustic by DJ David Knapp and the White Party Symphony conducted by performer/producer/composer Sam Hyken, and drag queen extraordinaire Elaine Lancaster. Tickets are $237. This is the first time the party takes place outside of its former home of Vizcaya. Change is good, and for that, we’re also thankful.
