Henry’s Swing Club: Sip in Style

When it comes to great food and a lively scene, the guys behind DMK Restaurants (Ada Street, County Barbeque, mk) know what they’re doing. That’s why we’re sure you’ll enjoy their boldest project to date, Henry’s Swing Club, the perfect date night destination when you want to shake things up .

Located on River North’s party strip of Hubbard Street, this throbbing cocktail lounge appeals to a sophisticated, mature crowd with its honky-tonk tunes and retro setting. You and your significant other are certain to fit in, considering your penchant for classic libations and old-school games.

Seriously, when was the last time you played Spin the Bottle or Uno? Have a little throwback fun with your mate, and possibly learn some fascinating new facts about each other. If that leads to a bit of drama, shift your focus to the cocktails, which are among the city’s finest. Choose from cocktails on draft (that’s right, cocktails on draft), as well as the more traditional types that are shaken, swizzled, and stirred. An evening of romance seems to call for an exotic selection such as the Singapore Sling (first served 100 years ago at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore), a frozen Mezcal Mule (a smoky, Latin-influenced version of the Moscow Mule) or the Sugarfoot, made with sparkling wine, pineapple syrup and aperol.

A hearty selection of draft beers rounds out the list, including Old Style lager from Lacrosse, Wisconsin for just $3 a pint for the old-schoolers among you. For your eating pleasure, Henry’s offers a number of offbeat sliders and kicked-up versions of comfort food classics like fried chicken topped with wildflower honey-butter, as well as fried oysters, tuna melts, and burgers.

But don’t forget why you came here: for a little romance. End the night with chocolate fondue or campfire s’mores made tableside. A little kitschy, yeah, but you can never go wrong with a sweet treat.
