The Hunt for Vintage Clothing in Stockholm

If you’re visiting Stockholm, you might not immediately think of shopping for vintage clothing. However, there are plenty of secondhand boutiques and flea markets with vintage items for sale, all within walking distance of each other in the bohemian city district of Södermalm, or “Söder,” as the locals call it.

When you’re on the hunt for vintage clothing in Stockholm, you must get to SoFo, just south of Folkungagatan, which flies the flag for Stockholm’s secondhand culture. This area has more shops and boutiques specializing in vintage per square meter than anywhere else in the city.

At Sivletto, you can find retro clothing and matching accessories to whisk you back to the 1940s and 50s. At this boutique you’ll also find the clothes from a number of subcultures, including rockabilly, tiki, and hot rod. And you won’t have to look for long to find some cool vintage furniture. Before you leave, don’t forget to check out the retro arcade pinball machine and vintage hairdressers to complete the experience.

Judits also celebrates the 1950s, as well as the 60s and 70s, with numerous vintage items by designers like Chanel, Chloe, Dior, Gucci, and Louis Vuitton. The men’s department (Herr Judit) offers similar vintage garments. Emmaus opened in the late 60s and has since expanded to include a children’s department and a designer-vintage section. If you’re still yearning for even older items, you can find dresses, jewelry, and hats inspired by the 1920s at Old Touch. The boutique’s oldest vintage item is from the 1890s.

You don’t need to be a collector of tennis shoes, high tops, and sneakers to appreciate Sneakersnstuff‘s selection of colorful, funky shoes—all only available in limited numbers. This vintage shoe shop has brands such as the classic Converse Chuck Taylor, Adidas Stan Smith, Puma Suedes, New Balance 577, Nike Air Force 1, and Air Max 1, plus its own brand SNS.

Lisa Larsson is still one of the most popular secondhand stores in the whole city to hunt for vintage clothing. In addition to its variety of vintage dresses, leather jackets, and other high-end couture garments, the boutique is also known for its vintage and designer shoes.

Beyond Retro is one of the best places for retro and secondhand shopping in the city of Stockholm. If you like sniffing out a bargain, you’ll definitely love it here. In the three stores, you’ll find a staggering 35,000 items to choose from, ranging from the 1920s right through to the 1990s.
