The Camden Passage is a great place to spend a day of shopping, especially if you are a fan of vintage finds. Huddled next to Angel Station, the quaint street offers a shopping experience that’s a world away from the stereotypical high-street shops you’ll find nearby. Made famous in the 1950s for its antiques market, the Camden Passage is now home to a variety of cafés, restaurants, shops, and market stalls, all ready for you to explore.
One of the more popular boutiques is Annie’s, which sells a beautiful collection of vintage clothing and textiles. Here, you rummage through a variety of silk and beaded gowns, luxurious furs, and exquisite trimmings. You’re tempted by the 1920s-inspired fashion, and can see yourself returning to stock up before your next special occasion. Even if you’re not shopping, the incredible window display makes a visit to Annie’s worthwhile. And it’s always fun to try a few things on, just in case.
Located just a short walk away is Be-Dazzle, a specialist shop selling vintage handbags and jewellery. You step inside and marvel at Be-Dazzle’s hand selected collection as you browse the film and television costume jewellery and super-cute vintage purses, dating back to the 1900s.
When the midday hunger pangs hit, you head to The Elk in the Woods for a bite to eat. You’ve heard great things about the popcorn ice cream sandwich here, so you can’t wait to order it. As you take your first bite and taste the salty caramel, you close your eyes to savour the moment. It’s every bit as good as you imagined. After eating, you sink into the comfy chairs. The laid-back atmosphere and gorgeous food provide the perfect rest from trying on all those clothes.
You head back out to browse the market stalls. At the Camden Passage from Wednesday to Sunday you can find a range of stalls selling everything from vintage clothes to bric-a-brac and collectables. You take your time to meander down the street, searching for great finds, such as pretty vintage tea dresses and quirky jumpers, perfect for brightening up any cold, dark day.
You’re feeling windswept after a long day on the passage, so you decide to pay a visit to the award-winning Blow Bar, where you can pick from one of eight signature blow-drys to go with your new vintage outfit. As you get your luscious locks tousled and preened, you get your nails painted too. Even though you’re leaving with vintage, you head home feeling beautiful, shiny, and new.
