7 Unique and Fun Family Activities in Aruba

Aruba is known for its beautiful beaches, so you might think building sandcastles and splashing in the waves are the only family activities. While you definitely want to allot time for some oceanside lounging, Aruba has plenty of other kid-friendly attractions that your family will love. From go-kart racing to beautiful national parks, these seven unique family activities will ensure you make the most of every minute on the island.

1. Bubali Bird Sanctuary

Birdwatchers of all ages love seeing the numerous species that call this area home. Spot egrets, herons, ducks, cormorants, and more while visiting. The observation tower allows you to get even closer to these winged beauties as they soar past.

2. Conchi the Natural Pool

Located inside the Arikok National Park, this natural formation is an island favorite. The rocks around the pool protect it from the rough waters of the surrounding seas, so the water inside the barrier is calm enough for anyone to enjoy swimming or snorkeling. Because of the pool’s location, you have to rent a 4×4 vehicle or walk over the rugged terrain to get there—and that’s half the fun.

3. The Natural Bridge at Wariruri Beach

This stretch of beach along the northern shore is known for its excellent surfing and fishing, but the stunning natural bridge also draws visitors. Make your way down the dirt road past the old mill ruins to discover this off-the-beaten-path site.

4. The Caves of Arikok National Park

Fontien Cave, located near Boca Prins, is an excellent place to teach your kids about the island’s earliest inhabitants. Look for the Arawak drawings on the cave walls before admiring the beautiful stalactite and stalagmites. Quadirikiri Cave (also known as Guadirikiri Caves) has two large domed chambers that are known for their ceiling openings, and Huliba Cave has five entrances including one that’s heart-shaped. See the bright blue sky peeking at your family through the holes and spot the long-tongued fruit bats that call this place home.

5. Baby Beach

Look no further for the perfect beach for all your family activities. Baby Beach’s shallow, calm waters and half-moon shape make this a family favorite. Located in Seroe Colorado, Baby Beach has everything you need for a great day by the water — snack bars, complimentary sun huts, and a dive shop.

6. Carubbian Festival

Held every Thursday in San Nicolas, this colorful, high-energy festival shows your family the culture of Aruba. Catch the parades filled with beautifully costumed dancers before sampling some traditional Caribbean fare. Then find the perfect souvenir to bring home among the artists’ tents.

7. Aloe Factory Tour

Your kids will be fascinated as they learn about this incredible plant. Once the world’s largest exporter of aloe, the island still produces and manufactures creams, lotions, and soaps. Tour the factory to see how the plant goes from seed to product, and then sample the wares at the end of the tour.
